FENCED CITY is a project that raises a socially important topic of popular, fenced housing estates within large Polish cities. In this matter, Poland has become a leader in Europe! It arouses anxiety among urban planners, sometimes frustration among the residents of open settlements, powerlessness among ambulance drivers, unsubstantial concerns of sociologists about the dying idea of the city as an open and friendly space for people.
Looking for security is the main declared reason among buyers of flats in closed housing estates. However, does the fence solve the problem of robbery and theft? Security illusion breaks down on statistics that clearly contradict this.
The campaign is not directed against residents of such settlements but only against gaming policies. It aims to raise the awareness of the inhabitants of both sides of the fence about the absurdity of the situation, threats, social discomfort and deepening disproportions.
